Our voyage can truly be described as a journey through
history. Beginning in the city of Kiev, we then navigate
the mighty Dneiper River as we make our way to the delta
of the river and enter the Black Sea. Our ports of call
include Odessa, founded by Catherine the Great and the
Crimean port of Sevastopol, closed to the west until recent
times.
The ancient city of Kiev is renowned for its architectural
heritage including the Pecherskaya, the oldest monastery
in the Ukraine.
In the Panorama Museum of Sevastopol the
siege of the city in the Crimean War comes vividly to life
in the painted murals which line the walls of this circular
building. One of the most famous features of Odessa is
the Potemkin Steps which rise to a height of almost 500
feet from the sea to the upper town. Visit the promenade
or the acoustically perfect Opera house.
Kherson was originally a riverside fortress,
founded in 1778. It is now the home of Catherine's Cathedral.
